Who is the Hero?

I saw where a teacher in Washington state saved untold lives by disarming a gunman at his school. Very cool. Very brave. The ABC Evening News gave him 10 or 15 seconds. Then they did still another feature on Bruce Jenner. It seems like they have been devoting a lot of news time to Jenner for the last few weeks, like every night leading up to and after his special with Diane Sawyer. There are a lot of things, both good and bad, that happened today in the world. But ABC "News" devotes a good portion of their evening news to still another episode of the Bruce Jenner saga. If he wants to become a woman, let him. Leave him alone and let him live his life as he wants. But enough on the evening news. Or is this just a case of a long ago sports hero who misses the spotlight and is willing to take extreme measures to get back into it, and a network that will do anything for ratings? Just asking.
